The issue of on-board performance monitoring and alerting of the aircraft navigation system complies with the required safety level associated with area navigation specifications is considered. It is proposed to use a probabilistic approach based on Bayesian criteria for monitoring characteristics of the navigation system in the horizontal plane and alarming of area navigation mode. Usage of probabilistic approach allows to recognize compliance with a particular navigation specification with the lowest risk. The NSE value is used as a key parameter for classification.
