Efficiency Analysis of Air Traffic Under the Risk of Airspace Use

Operation of modern air transportation system is grounded on efficient use of airspace and available network of flight routes. Air traffic flow management takes into account airspace performance and separation minimums within the flight routes network. In case of the closed part of airspace, air traffic flow is reconfigured and directed over closed volumes. However, such action increases the load of neighbor areas and may affect the safety of aviation. In the paper we propose to use trajectory data obtained under Automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) for efficiency analysis of particular air connections performed by different pre-planned trajectories. Variation of actual trajectories by performing unique flight plan is a result of different flight techniques and acting errors of airplane positioning sensors. Parameters of total flight time and length of airplane trajectory are used in connection between airports efficiency analysis. A Kernel probability density function is used to fit input trajectory data histogram. Efficiency analysis has been performed to study losses from Belarus airspace closing on March 23, 2021. Results indicate about increasing flight time in 30 minutes approximately for air connection between Ukraine and airports in Northern side.
