The article highlights that one of Ukraine’s key post-war priorities is the restoration of modern transport infrastructure and the development of efficient, EU-aligned supply chains. It explores how European transport policy can be applied in Ukraine to promote sustainability and resilience. With limited access to sea and air transport, road freight has grown significantly – intensifying environmental pressure. To address this, the study proposes scenario-based models for increasing the use of container freight over the next 10 years, focusing on shifting cargo to cleaner modes like rail and maritime transport. Containerisation is presented as a cost-effective and sustainable solution. Calculations show that raising containerisation levels to 40–45% could reduce CO₂ emissions and environmental costs by 10–15%. These results confirm that containerisation should be part of Ukraine’s long-term strategy for building a greener and more competitive transport system.
